Can’t go to Church? Here’s an alternation.
The Church is the home of our God, the building that all Christians gather to pray and worship our God. All of us can and should to go to Church. It is a place to get in touch with God. But not all of us can go to the Church all the time, and maybe some of us travel a lot, and the places they visit don’t have a Church. Here you will find out what you can do if you are unable to go to a Church. Before I say anything further, this is what Jesus told us about the Church,
“I will build My church, and the gates of Hades [the grave] shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18)
Not going to Church does not mean you are not connected with Jesus. Yes going to Church is good, there are many benefits to it, like meeting other Christians, celebrating mass, being in a peaceful place and the Church is where you get baptized, married and so on.
However, believing in Jesus is the essential part of our Religion, and there are many proofs in the Bible. Here I will share with you one. When Jesus was crucified, he was in between two thieves. One of them said to Jesus
“Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!”(Luke 23:39)
However, the other crucified thief disapproved what the previous one said and replied:
“Do you not even fear God since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? Moreover, we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” (Luke 23:40)
and then he said to Jesus
“Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!” (Luke 23:42)
in which Jesus replied,
“Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.”(Luke 23:43) .
This man has never gone to a Church, but he believed in Jesus, which translates in my earlier taught that you do not have to go to Church to be a Christian. God is everywhere which means the Church is everywhere, Church is where we chose to be.
If you believe in God, you are already a member of the Church of God.
If you love God, it does not matter if you go to Church or not, all that matters is the belief.
These are the few things you can do to strengthen your faith while not being able to go to a Church. In this modern age, everything is available on the internet including the Bible.
What you can do is download the Bible from the internet, read it, study it, try to understand it as you read it, you can also read the online Catholic Catechism, apologetics, and other writings.
There are many Christian books available for you on the internet. Another good thing you can do is set a time in the day when you can devote yourself to God, even if it happens that you are not home if you are in a car, a plane or at work. In this time you should be able to devote yourself to God, praise Jesus for your success and trials in life, thank him for everything he gives you (your Job, Car, Family, etc.).
This is my advice to you, my brothers and sisters, if you can go to Church do it, but if can’t don’t despair. You can still worship and nourish your belief and relationship with God. Just pray daily, read thy Bible as much as you can, and never forget to thank our Lord for everything he gives to us. God Bless.
